Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Neuro Linguistic Programming looks at how we perceive our world internally and externally, and the patterns of behaviour we experience, whether helpful or unhelpful. NLP has been around for over 40 years and was developed by Dr Richard Bandler, who Julie was lucky enough to train with, and John Grinder. It provides a series of strategies and techniques to help us change the thoughts, behaviours and beliefs that may limit our potential in many areas of our life.

 Our thoughts and  emotions have a direct result on our physiology whether based on real or imagined events. We all have our own version of reality and may perceive events  differently than our friends or colleagues. For instance two people could be due  to travel on an aeroplane, one may be looking forward to it, picturing good things, while the other is dreading it, picturing bad things. Through the use of NLP we can  help the second person to think more like the first person and whilst  maintaining their inbuilt mechanism to escape danger, develop a new more  positive thought process in connection to flying. For someone who has to travel  a lot as part of their work the fear could have held them back and limited their  potential in their career.

NLP offers the mind  the option of re-programming itself to think in a more  resourceful way and re-framing a past traumatic event can bring about powerful positive change.
